Stuhrling Junk - Falls Apart on TV

Postby boscoe » November 28th 2010, 5:04pm

Jaws tried a sausage finger misdirection play, but a Stuhrling fell apart on air.
LMAO!
These watches are pure shit. They were shit six years ago. They are shit now.
But trotted out the George J Von Berg name.
Inspires confidence with GJV!

Classic TV! I would have loved to see his attempt at redirection. You know all eyes were on that damn watch. Glad I never fell into that trap

Any chance of that showing up on Youtube?
And the fact I'm still living rent free in his head makes me grin and giggle.

An unnamed ex-geek ( a nice guy who wouldn't say a bad word about anyone, so I won't out him here), had the misfortune/poor judgement to buy one of the shitty Stuhrling Tourbys...

Of course it was a total piece of junk. He was friendly with Larry and another company rep and months later, still waiting for a replacement. He had a "good" serial number and posted pics, etc. And wanted it fixed or a movement swap.

Too bad for him, no can do.

Stuhrling is pure, unadulterated fecal matter.

Which watch fell apart?

A later note: I DVRed the show for late night guffaws, but the only thing I could find that looked like that was Skelton dropping his pointer on hair (klang) - then later, it fell off the counter as he was showing an SO (two more klangs). But I couldn't spot a watch falling apart. Perhaps it did, but I couldn't find it.

Can't be more specific without checking. I think it was part of the clasp on the pure mechanical.

The video seems to have been edited to erase JS' hiding the fallen part under his hand, behind a Stuhrling watch's strap, AND blocking it with his arm at the end of the first hour of Sunday night's Watch Time. I do not believe it was his "pointer." He would have picked it up, not hidden it.

I just watched the video again. This incident happened right before the end of the hour and has definitely been scrubbed.
He was holding a watch in a 2-shot while "Larry" was talking and a piece flew off. He hid it behind his hand. And pushed it around with his fingers. He ultimately hid it behind the strap of the watch on the far right.

Hell, somebody will end up with that very watch as if it were new or a specially modified version by JS. Those assholes didn't even acknowlege it happened when anybody watching clearly saw it. It happened on TV of all places. Karma is a bitch. I hope Aaron was watching. Lol!

Shame it isnt an Invicta or the broken watch would probably find its way onto a second show (the Officina Del Tempo rotorgate incident with Shawn Wilsie ).

Again: What in the wide, wide world of sports is Marc at Long Island Watch doing selling Stuhrling Original? The worst quality of TV watches; they make Invicta look like Patek. I know that LIW likes to sell watches at lower price points, but once Marc gets those returns hopefully he'll come to his senses.

Quite so. In This Thing Of Ours, Marc is one of the very few good guys around. I have no reason to question his business decisions, but I would assume that SO gave him an offer that he couldn't refuse, and being in the business end of the trade, Marc wants to make some profits. There's profit to be made in the TeeVee wartche trade, and if some of the simps end up looking at Seiko or Orient while whacking off to some SO piece of shit, all the better.
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.

I agree. LIW once in a while stocks a brand that make you scratch your head (SO, Aeromatic 1912, stuff like that), but I guess it comes with the price point territory. I know Marc knows what he's doing, and if he eventually finds SO to be, well, SO-quality, they'll be outta there like Todd Bowles.
