Favorite pickups this year

Favorite pickups this year

Postby svaglic » December 23rd 2018, 10:16am

In no order, these were my favorite buys this last year. I got more but these were mostly the ones on my list, except that last one, it fell into my lap.

That Oris makes me stiff. I have the hipster’s version but it’s the overall shape and skin diver schtick that really appeals. No idea why, it just does!

Easy for me, for the first year in a long time I only bought one watch:

I love that yellow Orient Svagy! I've had a pretty good year too, but this one is my favorite find.

Picked up four this year.

This one's the obvious favourite - 1946 Omega ref. MI 2214, with the Omega 30T2 PC AM under the bonnet:
Image

The rest - late 1940s DuBois with FEF 190, a 1960s Buren Grand Prix with the Buren 1420 inside, and a 1960s Indus powered by the ETA 2391:

Also, it's worth mentioning, that while it was last year that I bought this 1947 Tissot aka "The Golden Nightmare" (due to a multitude of issues, that including parts in need of replacing)...
Image

...it was only this year that I received it back after repairs, nothing short of reborn:

Good stuff. Nice to see the Atlantic get the attention it deserves.

Nothing really for me this year, apart from the Orient Triton, which blew, so I sold it along.

This is the only thing new for me:

Image

Took my steel dial TT Daytona, blue Tudor Blue Lollipop, two hydronaut, and my Black Bay to get it... I came out on top considering current rates.

Down to:

'54 6205 Submariner
'58 5508 Submariner
'08 16610 Submariner
116515 Daytona
167188 GMT II
16013 Datejust

I have a square dress Tudor and a couple of others like Victorinox Divemaster.

Want 18K Gold Sub with blue dial and white dialed Milgauss.... then I'm done!

..... really

:D Doesn't blow that much

Not worth MSRP and maybe not even what Long Island Watch sells it for, but for 250 it is a steal of a deal IMO and it is the lone watch I picked up this year.

Thank John!

Suprised by the churn. Love my new Tudor, there's good stuff in this brand. Also love the MM. I'm imagining a Spring Drive in that case. Finally a classic Credor kwartz from the old man with the endless stash of old GS in mint condition.

I meant blue, not "blew." You're welcome, Mr. Labby. A fine Christmas to all!

The gold Sub can only do as much as shine the shoes of that 5508.

Never had the urge to own something like a Day-Date 1803 or a solid gold Datejust Thunderbird?
