Hi from the desert

Hi from the desert

Postby Sminkypinky » June 21st 2018, 10:01am

Hello. I signed up a while ago but just lurked ever since.
I'm half-irish, half- English, and because I didn't listen to my teachers at school I now find myself in the desert working on construction projects.
Watches: I'm mainly interested in what are usually classed as 'affordables'. My first ever watch was a hand-wind Timex, bought by my grandma when I was 11. I still have it. My latest purchase was a Zeno Bubbleback (32mm diameter), before that a Casio Gulfmaster, and before that I forget but I think it was a Seiko SARB.
I own about 15 watches (I can't be bothered to get off the chair and count them): several Seiko and Zeno, a Nomos, couple of Casio digitals, a Laco, Citizen, Chr Ward, Rado, Longines and Hamilton.

Current favourite is the Zeno Navy Diver, this one has a brushed case rather than the usual highly-polished one:

Welcome, goddamn it! A nice intro post, too.
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.

Welcome to Watchlords. The joint's more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.

Look forward to seeing more of them watches.

Welcome to the forum. Nice collection of watches and love the Zeno. I think we have one in the masthead which is my personal watch. at one timeI had the watch you are wearing in yellow. Eddie thought of me when he received it several years ago so he let me know about it. Gald he chose not to sell his forum to another company.

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes.
I'll put up pics of watches as soon as I figure out the right place to do so.

Which half is which? I think the lower half is English - my legs move slowly but methodically and get me where I want to go in the end, and my top half is Irish - my brain tries to keep me on track most of the time, but is easily distracted by Guinness and ideas that seemed like a good idea at the time, but weren't really.

I had one of those too - but got it from James at Time-Design (he's on Eddie's forum quite a bit).
That's when I found out that I don't actually like sword hands and sold it on. Nice watch though.

I had several Zeno's a few years ago, down to two now, but planning to get one of their Chronographs at Christmas if I can persuade Mrs Santa to agree to it.

Thanks again to everyone. I said I was mainly into 'affordable' watches, so here's a picture of what is currently my most expensive watch, a Longines Heritage Flagship LE:

Thanks, I think so too. Wish my photography skills were able to do it justice, but I just got my first DSLR so things should improve.

This is running way too smooth for an intro post. I'm kinda waiting for the other foot to drop....

Indeed! Hopefully, there seems to be no reason to add an exclamation point to the end of this jamoke's name.

How hard is it to post a short, simple intro and some pics of your watches? For some reason a good one like this is rare here.

Join-date December '15, there is not a lot of Irish (half) that can keep their mouth shut in such a long time. Some here wish that bobbee would

@Sminkypinky - sorry, I believe I missed Your intro. Welcome! And that Zeno is looking good. May I ask which desert You are located at?
