Sea-gull eBay sellers - genuine?

Postby JLC » June 16th 2018, 11:11am

Does anyone have experience purchasing Sea-gulls on eBay? I'm looking for an m193S and this seller has a few:

A good discount over the official Sea-gull store. Are these often counterfeits?

This newb should thank whatever God he prays to to have a guy like A-T look into this; this is like having a heart problem and having Christiaan Barnard saying, "I'll look into it."
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.

Thanks for the kindness, John.

I checked with Marco Kong/Kong Ning/KooNing (depending, he is known by all those names) who is an authorized Sea-Gull distributor/seller in Tianjin and who has one of only 4 authorized service centers in the Beijing/Tianjin area. He's well placed to know.

His reply when I asked him if republicofchic2007 ( the new eBay seller) was legitimate, he replied "I think so, I heard that there is a new seller in US."

Marco told me he'd let me know if he heard otherwise. At this point, I'd risk this new seller for my own purchases.

I'll also add that the seller's listings for Sea-Gull state "returns not accepted" and that the warranty is with Sea-Gull. That makes sense to me, but realize if there's an issue, you'll have to deal with Sea-Gull which will mean sending it to China for service.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look into the seller!

Happy to do it. The ST-19 chrono movement is a good design--based on a Venus 175--but, like all mechanical chrono movements, it can be fragile. I view mechanical chronos as "for show, not blow," like sports jacket pocket hankies ;-)

I have four ST19 watches and they all work fine, but I baby them. I mean, I can and do show folks that it's a chrono, and how it works, but If I need to use a chrono for anything serious at all, or more often than once a week or month, I go quartz.
