Avatar Size?

Postby Bahoomba » January 31st 2017, 2:02pm

Suddenly, the maximum avatar size says it can be only .98 K? That's beyond small; am I missing something? It won't even allow me to resubmit avatar photos I've used in the past.

Try again. May have happened during the forum upgrades

No luck as of yet; it won't even accept a photo of 29K, such as the one below. No big whoop; I'll just skip it.

No porno (thought I must admit, I really like the b&w photo you're using in the sig line...). Just like to freshen the avatar now and again, I was going to use the tiny Wimpy photo down below here. I do think that's a glich - I can't even make a photo that small using photo shop, and if I did it'd be too small to see.

Here's what is says now: "Maximum dimensions; width: 150 pixels, height: 150 pixels, file size: 0.98 KiB"

That's pretty much impossible. Again - am I missing something here?

Do you have a photo hosting site for pictures. If you do just select the photo and copy the url link. Paste the link into the avatar hosting window. You are not uploading a photo. You are using the hosting site and displaying your picture by using the url.

User control panel: edit avatar. Link off-site:
Enter the URL of the location containing the avatar image you wish to link to.

Still isn't working, even with the alternate method; something got screwed up with the software upgrade. I mean, I do this stuff all the time in various places, so something's amiss. It won't accept any of the URLs nor any photo larger than the size of a pin head.

I can't even get a 100 x 100 greyscale much below 5K. The .98K has to be a glitch.

I believe minimum allocation size is usually around 4K so going below that is pointless - it'll still take up 4K. 8K on my windows volumes.
And the fact I'm still living rent free in his head makes me grin and giggle.

I looked at my avatar in the user control panel and it doesn't even show a size, all dimensions show as zero. I've been wanting to change mine for a while but it was a pain in the ass years ago, so I haven't. Size doesn't matter right?

Just taking a moment to thank koi and the team; the photo posting for avatars seems to be fixed now, in all formats, so thanks for following up. As I had mentioned a couple of weeks ago, couldn't get anything to work but now all seems just fine. Kudos.

I like seeing the avatars, but some of the guys have huge ones (ahem) that cover their comments.
I have to stop showing avatars in control panel to rectify this.
Any other way?

I don't see any avatars covering comments. Sounds like your browser may be zoomed in too far or monitor resolution.

Monitor is set at normal parameters, browser not zoomed in either is just at 100%.
The pictures posted are often too large too, and I have to right-click and "view image" to see smaller.
Must be some setting on my laptop, but not sure how to go about it with Windows 10, it hardly lets you do anything.

At 100% (recommended) DPI, any other setting makes the screen look weird i.e. s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d o-u-t.
Other options are either non-viable or too complex for me!
Thanks for trying buddy.
