Watch Review: GAVOX Legac

Postby koimaster » March 5th 2017, 1:54pm

In today’s world we get so caught up in our technology which there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that. Technology makes our lives “easier”. I rely on technology to complete my reviews and without technology I wouldn’t be able to bring these reviews to you. But there is something simple and beautiful about the classics. I still use a notebook and a pen to organize my reviews, keep track of watches, watch companies, etc. Today I will be showing you something very classic, the Gavox Legacy. ... omment-595

"Gavox" sounds like a STD vaccine or some type of antibiotic.

Stupid fucking name.

This watch made me vomit copiously.
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.

I kinda like it.
Gavox is a horrible name, though better than the "Hello Larry" or whatever that other one was.

I met the creator of Gavox at a Worn & Wound show. He talked to me for ten minutes about sending his watches in mini-rockets with web cams attached into the sky. They had gps as well so they were retrievable. Had no idea what he was talking about but he clearly believed in something.

Not my cup-o-tea, but like his alternate approach to functionality. I own/like the quirky Aurora and have often considered the Avidiver on occasion.

I agree with the observation, that Gavox sounds like a name for a medicine, rather than for a watch brand.

Regarding the dial, my opinion is: I hate it. Looks like something between Big-fucking-Ben (the map of London in the background can't be a coincidence, can it?) and a Stauer... If not for the movement, which is of course great, but then again- hardly the of the spectacular sort. It's the sort of movement, that is a reliable workhorse, but is definitely better off without a transparent case back.

The dial layout is interesting, and if they made some classic, yet avant-garde dial and hands, it would really be a nice watch. With that dial, it's like a tower clock on steroids, and I don't mean that as a compliment.
