Thanks Mort. As a fellow vintage collector, the history is as interesting and fun as the timepiece.

What a stunner, puts anything I have to shame.

Glad to see another instalment in your series, Mort! That's an unusual - and beyond lovely - piece, and since it's accompanied by its original box and papers, it's a well and truly brilliant find.

I really like that slightly unusual regulator. Just for what it's worth, the Benrus ER-23 appears to be a modified ETA 2370:

Lengthy as usual old fiend. Just squeezin' your shoes a little bit, man. I bought some vintage Nikon rangefinder bodies and lenses at an estate sale once that had all of the original paperwork from the sale in Japan and the Customs forms, all in the original boxes, having been used on three vacations. The original owner was a Naval Officer stationed in Japan.

I really like that watch- an interesting statement of the times in American watches. I like the strike of the guy in the watch dial better than the on the actual medal. The iconic guy appears more so than rowing to be plunging the Cloaca Maxima in Rome.

Oh, I wouldn't say that, mon ami! I have seen quite a few of your timepieces -- uh-oh, I used that EVIL word over here, thereby destroying the dialectic purity of the WL language...I shall have to be purged & flogged, flogged & purged until such time as I am no longer repugnant to the purity of the WL dialectic -- and they're all top-of-the-line! 8-)

DANG, mon ami, that is one fine eagle-eye spot, MK!! (But, then again, that's why you're a Master of Time, while I am but a lowly Señor Member... 8-) ) And I bet you're absolutely correct, too!!

Cool watch made perfect by providing the proper paraphernalia and paperwork to prove its pertinent provenance.

True.

Nothing drains the soul like an oldie that catches the eye and turns out to be faked. Passed off especially to dupe those who engage our strange hobby in good faith.

Luckily we have Lords who spot that sort of thing.

Rather like a time capsule only more fun.
