Padded or non-padded strap? Need your opinions

Postby kevco » March 7th 2018, 12:18pm

Tillex 2 reg. chrono. with (Mulco) Valjoux 22 movement.

My girlfriend showed me a suitcase that had several old watches in it.
This, plus a 14kt Hamilton and many others including an Omega chrometer pocket watch she gave me. They belonged to her deceased husband's aunt or something along those lines.

She let me "borrow" this Tillex from the 1940's.
It was in very, very rough shape.
Took it to my watch guy and he did a fabulous job.

New crystal, mainspring, and hammer spring. Plus COA. final cost so far $309.56 :3

So..padded or non-padded strap?

For that particular watch I'd go with padded.

Now I think kevco should be banned. :o
Apart frm that a padded brown alligator print would be a good choice. I think the padding is good on a sports watch.

I know I am asking a lot of questions..but this watch is special:
Should it be dark brown or a lighter brown?

Strap stuff aside, it's a lovely watch. Tillex was a trademark of Mulco, so no surprises there.
Quite collectible, this one, with the waterproof Spillman case.

I would say it depends on the thickness of the watch. If it's a thin dress watch skip the padding thanks for the story.
