The Columbia Watch Society

Postby koimaster » January 18th 2018, 11:17am

The Columbia Watch Society was born in the Summer of 2016 while on a family vacation in Isle of Palms, SC. Three brothers, two engineers and an artist, who shared a love for watches, photography, and men’s style embarked on a mission beginning through the social media giant Instagram. The purpose, having a little fun sharing our watch walk through the lens of an iPhone and connect with like-minded folks along the way. With a few workhorse Seiko Divers on our wrists, we humbly entered the world of horology and our eyes were opened. Connections were made, relationships were built, and unique friendships were gained.

Ok that sounded good but let’s cut the mustard – who are we? We are average dudes, living normal ordinary lives where we trade hours worked for a paycheck. We live on a budget, drive 10 year old cars, have a house full of kids, go to church twice a week, and eat dinner every night around the kitchen table with family. Do we know a lot about watches? Compared to the guy in line in front of us at the grocery store, absolutely. Compared to you (since you are reading this website) probably not. We know just enough to be dangerous but have a darn good time adding more to the small amount of knowledge that we possess.

Now that that’s out of the way, we will close on a serious note. For generations, the wristwatch has been one of the most basic tools in a man’s arsenal. As smartphones have become ubiquitous, many argue that watches are obsolete and have been reduced to jewelry. Here at ColaWatch, we desire to share our passion and to welcome others to the #watchfam. True, the function of watches can largely be replaced with the simplest of phones, but the story told from a watch cannot be replicated.
