Invicta gone to far? No ties to Komen foundation

Postby ocean » October 14th 2012, 10:41am

Man this thing pisses me off bad. October is breast cancer awareness month. My aunt past away last year from breast cancer, my wife wanted to get something for my mom for her to remember. I don't know if this has been posted before. My wife saw this and thought it was for Susan G. Komen. When I took a look at it I was enraged by what I saw. I know it's pink but really now?

I hate to tell you this, but this isn't new. Invicta did the same thing last year or the year before, timing pink versions to coincide with breast cancer awareness month, the IMPLICATION being that Invicta is donating a portion of the proceeds... but no actual donation is taking place (at least none that I could find... you know damned well that if there was a donation, it would be flogged to high hell on the air).

Huckster Eyal is hoping that people will make the emotional connection and buy without checking further, and he reaps the benefits.

The real blame lies with the Susan G Komen people for co-opting the color pink to their cause. Does your wife also think all pink blouses have soemthing to do with breast cancer? I give a wide latitude but, yoour making a pretty jaded judgement here. I don't believe eyal is that smart.

Eyal knows exactly what he is doing. This is the only time these watches are pushed this hard. From the bullshit about $78k in watch donations to his swiss factories, the man is a liar, a con man who works in a gray area that one day will get him caught and hopefully thrown in prison.

Hear, hear. The current TV nonsense - selling watches on shaky beachfronts - makes everything look like it's all magical and creamy, but anyone with half a brain can see IWG is a house of cards. Any minute now, WGs, IAs, and other associated suckers and goobers - any minute now. Frankly, I'm sick to death of the stupidity of my fellow "WIS" out there; grow the fuck up and buy a real watch.

Susan G. Komen's foundation has whored out her memory. I'm sure the twats who run this are perfectly comfortable with selling pink Invictas.
The foundation is about money - just like Invicta.

Last year, ShopNBC hosts, especially Kendy Klumpfer and Konnie Klunker were complicit in this intentional misdirection, pleading piously "These would make a great gift for that person in your life dedicated to a charitable cause - or a great remembrance for someone who's lost a friend or family member." Disgusting.

Submitted at the Susan G Komen site a few minutes ago along with photos.

Invicta watch group of Hollywood florida is selling pink watches and watch related items inferring that there is a relationship with your group and a portion of the sale proceeds are donated to you. This is currently being pushed by them on shopnbc aka valuevision. I might add that there are pink colored watches in the mens' line which are only released this time of year. Please let me know what the truth of this is.

thanks

Well, "known to cause cancer" and "known by the State of California to cause cancer..." may not be the same thing.

After all, how many places even consider enacting a ban on dihydrogen monoxide?

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — City officials were so concerned about the potentially dangerous properties of dihydrogen monoxide that they considered banning foam cups after they learned the chemical was used in their production. Then they learned, to their chagrin, that dihydrogen monoxide — H2O for short — is the scientific term for water.

Toxicity and dosage are inextricably linked. IMHO, California has gone profoundly off the rails with this crap.

The Invicta is still a misrepresented piece of shit but there's no need to "gild the lily" with California's misinformed fears.

it would be nice to have video evidence by them of any inference that this is tied to charity or to breast cancer

Unfortunately, as an unofficial ombudsman of all things Invicter, I don't recall seeing anything on Shop that links the pink watches (especially for men) and breast cancer donations. While I find it stultifyingly tasteless for Invicta to offer men's watches in pink during this period in question, all I recall seeing is the hosts and guests blathering on about how pink is a new "power" style for men--which is, of course, horseshit.
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.

Indeed I have been watching the Invicta Bahama Mama weeklong bullshit, (actually, going there on thursday) and is timed to coincide with the breast cancer awareness month, implying a connection...on another clever move by el Lalo .

I agree with both of you. It's testament to how effective Komen has been that whenever we see an item offered in pink we first think of breast cancer. That doesn't mean that you ought to have to run it by Komen before you offer an item in pink and it doesn't mean that if you sell a pink car, blender or pair of shoes that you're trying to dupe people in any way. Unless you're name is A.L. Liar, in which case you most certainly are trying to dupe people. You don't know any other way.
Komen has taken a lot of heat lately for various things and they've alienated a lot of their base by seemingly rubber-stamping any product for Komenizing. S&W pistols (in pink, of course) come to mind. Some worry that eventually you'll be able to purchase pink Komen breast implants. Still, I don't think they'd ever stoop so low as to be associated with Invicta.
