Most Popular Rolex Watches of the 1960s

Aspirational Vintage Rolex Timepieces

The 1950s had been a decade of incredible inventiveness and creativity for Rolex. It saw the Swiss giants bring us a series of watches that would become benchmarks. Not just for the brand itself, but for watchmaking in general. Names such as the Submariner, the President, and the GMT-Master represented the pinnacle of engineering excellence. These were among the most coveted and aspirational timepieces in production.

As the 1960s arrived, Rolex set about the process that has secured them as the most successful watchmakers on the planet to this day. They were persistent with their never-ending improvement of their already state-of-the-art designs.

I'm so beyond jealous of anyone who owns a Daytona of that vintage that's in good shape. Cripes, you can just name your price and get it. Here in NYC, the collector's market for Daytonas is far past the level of insanity. Even a jeweler in Long Island just sold a Daytona "red hands" model that's not nearly as old as those for just short of 60 grand. I'll be honest - I don't have deep knowledge about Daytonas because I gravitate toward dressier (and less expensive) Datejusts and even Oyster Perpetuals - but the Daytona mania shows no signs of abating, that I do know.
Proof that quartz is still not only viable, but sometimes, something to covet: Grand Seiko.

Dr. Smells wears an Everose Daytona for a daily beater. Why? Because he doesn't give a shit.
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.
