Two and a half bills for a piece of steak is fucking nutz. It's beautiful, of course, but it's still fucking nutz.

It's not about the price IMHO. It's about the style of the review which is kinda-sorta Dave Barry-ish crossed with Conjurer-y.

I liked it.
And the fact I'm still living rent free in his head makes me grin and giggle.

I liked the article too. I'm not sure I like being mentioned in the same sentence as Dave Barry, but then, Barry's made a whole lot more money on his writing than me, so what the fuck do I know?

I do know that Wagyu is the shit. It will fucking ruin you for regular steaks. I've only grilled Wagyu steaks from Snake River Farms in Idaho, which run about $25 a pound; I grill it on very hot coals for a couple of minutes a side, and let it rest for about ten minutes. Granted, it wasn't as purty as the shit in the article, but I'm not Warren Buffet, either, and it's not a $250 steak. In my experience, Wagyu goes from medium rare to shoe leather in the blink of an eye. After you eat it (and a one-pound ribeye will easily feed two normal adults, or in the case of me and my wife, one normal adult and one abnormal one) a regular ribeye will taste like something at fucking Sizzler.

I've only had it once. Can't say as I remember much about it. Then again it was at a Marriott in Bangkok and I may have been distracted by the staff.
