Remember, remember the fifth of November 2017!

Postby bobbee » November 5th 2017, 5:35am

Continuing my earlier theme of posting Watches bought back to life with this 1940's Bentima, a brand made by Oris for the UK.
It was filthy inside and out, cleaned movement and oiled and now running well. Case cleaned, crystal sanded and brassoed, Cape Cod cloth brought the plating back to life and hid the rub marks seen on the before pic.

When a vintage restoration turns out so damned beautifully, one hesitates to use the dry, even parched technical terminology of vintage horology-speak to express the myriad levels of appreciation one has for such a project outcome, but there's simply no other way to adequately go about such a task; you must use such a wizened watch lexicon because nothing else can so adequately get your point across for you. So, with all of that gobbledygook being said, it is thereby that you have now been warned, so here goes (cue the Cyndy Lauper music!): That fucking watch is the absolute, penultimate SHA-LIZZLE in the minizzle!! Yo-YO-YO!! Jeebus-Jazzanka-LEEBUS!

And to everyone else? Well, might I suggest you heed Cory Hart's modus operandi and wear your sunglasses at night!! Yup...and, um, Yo, too... :???: 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

No sooner do I put the finishing touches on my MMMM SOTVC presentation and post it, when I find this lovely little vintage Seiko, as "borrowed" by my missus, who is genetically incapable of (a) returning a borrowed watch to its appropriate storage receptacle, and; (b) returning a "borrowed" tool from my workshop and, in particular, returning it to its properly-marked and designated spot...Oh, NO, that's too much like work, and keeping my workshop in order is not her @$#%ing job!

Ahem, where was I? Oh, yeah, this lovely little vintage Seiko...

Thanks all for the comments! Mort, that Seiko is a very cool watch, and a really cool blue dial.
Maybe your missus would like this one, yet another from my recent batch of non workers.
A 1920's unnamed Swiss, cleaned as much as I could get at without doing more than remove the balance cock, and oiled with a sliver of pegwood. Up and running, nothing more to do except time it.

Since many people weren't in lockstep with his beloved cheese box shit watch brand, The Cruise King ran off blowing snot bubbles, far away from his once-beloved forum. Here, eat this mudpie, Paw Paw. It tastes like a Hershey bar. Go ahead, dig in.

Eden Prairie (yes, that one) School of Rock. Plus my newest watch. (Still waiting for a different strap.) Next to the purifying waters of Lake Minnetonka. Thanks for the most recent tip, TemerityB...
