The Donkey in the (Auction) Room

Postby MKTheVintageBloke » May 12th 2018, 3:41pm

Just today, I've stumbled upon a thread - in WUS F11 - about this weekend's auctions at Phillips. Normally, I'd click on it, skim, and move on to something else, since a) I find the auction houses a rather revolting safe space for those doing hype, fleecing, and worse, selling fakes and frankens, and b) I fucking hate Phillips.
However, I thought that digging through the shite for intel is more important than saying "fuck it" and calling it a day, and I wasn't wrong.

Scrolling through the list of lots, I found this little article, written by - surprise, surprise - one of the Hoodwinkee staff:
https://www.phillips.com/article/30722188/making-a-case-for-restored-dials

Just in the last few months, Benny the Donkey tried to hype redials in a lengthy (and idiotic to the level of causing mental pain an inch south of physical discomfort) editorial using...a Patek as an example.

So, it looks like among many services offered by Hoodwinkee, that being creating hype and writing advertorials, now they're also providing condottieri.

End of communique.

F11 is the Vintage & Pocket Watches sub-forum. Me calling it "F11" as it's called on WUS every now and then, is simply an old - and thus hard to change - habit of mine.
