Timex x Greats Bayman

Timex x Greats Bayman

Postby Racer-X » August 2nd 2018, 11:31pm

"Everyone who is into watches has that all-important first memory of slipping something on their wrist, smiling, and realizing that maybe something cool was going on there. For Ryan Babenzien, the founder of Brooklyn-based sneaker brand Greats, that memory is of his grandfather handing him a Timex when he was six years old and then teaching him to tell time on it. Fast forward to today and Babenzien is teaming up with the classic American watch brand to create the Bayman, an homage to his childhood spent on Fire Island along the Great South Bay.

The watch itself is meant to be a daily beater kind of watch, sitting at 43mm in a metal case with a soft, sand-blasted finish. The entire thing has a deep blue motif that is carried from the dial out to the bezel and onto the nylon NATO-style strap. The numerals and hour markers are bold and luminous and there are bright orangey-red accents on the seconds hand and the "Bayman" signature. One thing you'll notice is that the dive bezel has the markings in reverse, giving it a slightly different look and letting you use it as a count-down timer."

Apart from the no-date and the ghey-assed fucking NATO, that one's all right.

I like the no date, but the reverse bezel may take some getting used to.

Attractive- even with the NATO. Wish more quartz pieces had the battery type listed on the rear cover. Would be a real time saver.

"Kill them all then, colonel. I would not have them be brave in the Devil's service!"

I mean, apart from the no-date, the NATO, and the bezel, which is ghey. And the reference to Fire Island, which is the ultimate of gheyness. A fine wartche other than that. And, it only costs $105,000 AUD!!

That watch inspires me like a hole in my sock. It fires the imagination about as much as plain semolina. I look at it and its as horologically consequential as jellyfish splatter on a jetty.

And they got the fucking bezel backwards :-o

I should have said meh!
