It looks a bit like a cartoon watch.

I like the looks of it. Not sure if only an applied logo instead of the full brand name given on the dial doesn't make the dial a bit dull, though.

I actually like these. Not a fan of the "S" instead of the brand name, as already mentioned. They have certainly blown well past their goal. Wow!

The whole duffel bag BS makes me cringe. Who fucking cares about that shit.

Would rather have seen a better mesh option or another bracelet option. Not sure this works on anything other than leather, sadly.

If I were to buy one it wouldn't be new.

It's not hideous. Not a fan of the subdials, round would have been fine IMO. I don't know what the cost for an NE88 is but 700 for an auto seems high to me.

Another 1970s retro chrono reboot. The woods are full of 'em now.

Everything about this watch makes me fucking vomit.

I am particularly enamored by the holes in the bespoke "rally" strap with the orange/black colorway. The way they playfully mimic the shape of the unique subdials is a masterpiece of design.

Why pay $599 for a Junkers with the NE88 when I can pay $772 for a Kickstarter brand with no prestige or history? Not to mention one that looks like a Hamilton Pan Europe picked up a Stuhrling Original Aquadiver in a townie bar, fucked it in an hourly rate motel, then peed on it and didn't even give it cab fare to get home?

For what it's worth, Junkers has no prestige or history either. They seem to mostly feed off of the reputation of a long-defunct aircraft manufacturer of the same name.

The Stratons, although nice, are made in China, so I'm out.

Pretty decent write up by this blog. Should post the entire thing but Racer x is better at it than I am.

We rarely cover watches promoted on the crowdfunding source Kickstarter, but today we’ll take a look at what I’d consider to be a very well executed “retro racing” inspired piece, the Straton Syncro. I think that what you’ll see after reading this is that we are in a new era of flexible manufacturing and this allows for near limitless customization. Think of these micro brands as semi-analogous to craft beer because they answer the call for so many watch collectors and buyers – the desire to buy something off the beaten path that’s made to an individual’s tastes. These small brand products are something that large companies with large management structures and other internal requirements struggle to offer quickly and, most importantly, affordably.

This is an EXCELLENT question, and one that is very difficult to answer.

Yup. This is a fine argument against just about any micro.
