Newmark 71 - June 18th

A Week on the Wrist – Newmark 71

Let’s get this out of the way straight away: The Newmark 71 is in the running to be my favourite watch of the year so far. Newmark’s third effort, it is a vintage sports watch (some might say dive watch, but Newmark prefers the more flexible term) with a real 70s charm. Of the siz options, my personal favourite is the blue model with the 12-hour bezel but I chose to borrow the white model for review as it stood out as the boldest choice.

Nice enough homage of a Kon-Tiki.

Not a bad looking watch without the date. The date looks stupid sitting on that triangle.

Bazooka-barf.

Mr conjurer, can you please help me understand the difference between bazooka-barf and Bazinga!-barf?

They are synonymous, Mr. bedlam.

I don't like the version with the 12h bezel. 60-minute dive bezel, black dial and no date? Yes, please. I actually like it.

I also don't think it's an Eterna KonTiki homage in any way. Eterna appears to have been the first to use the triangular markers, followed by Zodiac. And then, dozens of now-gone companies did the very same thing. That said, bears resemblance to a shitload of 1960s-early 1970s "skin diver" watches.
His deepest need was that people should like him. An admirable trait, that... In a spaniel, or a whore.
