A Saxon Legend With 53-Jewel Movement

A. Lange & Söhne was founded in 1994 with a simple yet lofty goal: to put high-end German watchmaking back on the map. It succeeded. Perhaps the company’s most famous watch, the Lange 1, which came out over 23 years ago, is back. Classically styled with its 38.5-millimeter case, it features a 53-jewel movement (with 365 total parts) manufactured 100 percent in house, from design to production to assembly. Flip the watch over to admire its remarkable movement. On a full charge it yields over 72 hours of power. The dial layout, first viewed as odd, has since become iconic. In the top right is an outsize date window, which advances instantaneously at midnight. Below it is the power reserve indicator and to its left is the actual time reading with Roman numerals at the cardinal hours. The bottom-right subdial tracks running seconds. As far as materials, the watch is constructed with an 18-karat yellow gold case, gold hands, and a sapphire crystal.

A Thin Masterpiece in 18-Karat Gold

A. Lange & Söhne was founded in 1994 with a simple yet lofty goal: to put high-end German watchmaking back on the map. It succeeded. The Saxonia Thin is, like its name suggests, the thinnest watch in the company’s collection. At just 5.9 millimeters thick, it goes virtually unnoticed on the wrist—in terms of weight, of course. Backed by a 21-jewel manual-wind movement, which can be seen via the exhibition caseback, the watch has a power reserve of 72 hours. Made from 18-karat white gold, the case is polished and clean, a nice complement to the ever-so-slightly textured dial. It’s set on an alligator leather strap and fitted with a sapphire crystal. This drop also features four other watches from the luxury brand. See below for more details on each.
