Bulova watch collection

Postby bobbee » November 30th 2016, 3:00pm

If you want to see what I think is one of the best collections of vintage Bulova watches, you could do worse than visit Watchophilia.com
Lisa owns more than a thousand Bulovas (only 943 uploaded though) and also has a large collection (75) of Mickey Mouse watches.
See the collection here, seperated by decades 1917-1979. http://www.watchophilia.com/photogallery/
She also has some quite unusual models in her collection, including some rare Victor Vasarely-designed watches.

There are many vintage adverts and catalogues to be found there too, and some excellent blogs and articles.

It's a shame that Lisa rarely visits now, but a bout of ill-health followed by a long recuperation, and the setting up of a new kiln and studio to feed her other passion-ceramics-means she has little time to spare nowadays, even though she has many more watches that really do need to be uploaded to the site!

Cheers, Bob.

It appears that I have as many Spaceviews as she does. But it ends there. What an amazing collection!

That's an absolute gem right there foghorn.
I got three Accutrons, none of the bleeders work though...

Lisa has tons more watches, she used to send me pics of those she was yet to post, there are some beauties including a minty super compressor and a bunch of 1950's NOS men's watches. My old pc had a meltdown and I lost hundreds of pics and adverts, so all those she sent are gone now. :(

Wow, nice collection and a ton of work there. Would like bigger and more pics but taking one must have been quite a chore.

Great stuff! Makes me think of my mom, bless her soul, she collected ornate old sewing machines.

Awesome collection of Bullies. Question: Are "bleeders" quartz watches? If so, that's hilarious because I've had a few batteries bleed all over the place because I forgot to change them on time.

Gorgeous stuff there...makes me want to take a rock and throw it at my own collection...okay, not really, but I am uber jealous over here. :?

Guys, I wish Lisa could see the great feedback here so thanks on her behalf.

@artman,
I meant it as a British soft swearword, but I think your idea of it meaning an old and leaky battery-run watch could and should be added to the Horological Lexicon.
Henceforth I think this term should be used for a F'd-up electrically run watch, and attributed to you!
