Watches That Didn't Need To Be Made

Watches That Didn't Need To Be Made

Postby AJC » December 29th 2018, 7:12am

I see so many brands coming out with garbage. Here is where I shall store them as they come to me.
The first one isn't the ugliest, but it makes me cry because it's $50,000, has a solid "gray gold" rotor, and it's a skeltonized Rolex. Rolex needs to stick with the formula that made them what they are.

Yeah, it's a LE, Rolex hasn't removed the dials from all Daytonas, but this watch didn't have to be made.

Anything ever made by MB&F fits the bill also.

Perhaps they just couldn't stand to see the Seiko Galante stand unopposed.
And the fact I'm still living rent free in his head makes me grin and giggle.

Actually, if you read a little further on this - Rolex didn't make the Montoya. It's a vanity project. Artisans de Geneve, which has no affiliation with Rolex, takes the watches and soups 'em up. More rich guys and their toys...

The Smiths Everest.
I checked you out, and I now want you to take the journey to lick my taint. It's small, but vast.

Like Bamford except it's being molested by the Swiss rather than the Brits?

I agree. The Yacht-Master II is among the most ghastly watches that Rolex ever made. Then again, they cater to the clients with impeccable taste and clients with no taste alike.

You got that right. Check out some of the watches in the women's line. Seriously.

I will add almost all limited edition Speedmasters. Especially that ghastly “internet Speedmaster” thing and all the one they make with comic character tie-ins. Or is that Romaine Jerome? It’s hard to tell them apart sometimes.

Having said that, if I was Omega and had drooling completists fetishising in their online bubbles over my limited-edition output I’d pump those fuckers out as fast as my case press in Ghuanzhou will let me...

Thanks Pubbie,

One of a million Speedmaster LE's. This one seems like a pretty cool white dialed Speedy that they destroyed by putting a big red chewin tobaccy can (needed to remove to set time or wind crown) and a white velcro strap.

The story is even more stupid, a repro of a watch made to withstand temperatures on the dark side of the moon.

Well, with NASA shelving the product, Omega decided to recreate it nearly 40 year later.

Needed?
