Anyone have experience with Rolex service?

Anyone have experience with Rolex service?

Postby Stephenmazinger » May 25th 2018, 3:07pm

Hey guys. I have a quick question for any of you with experience with Rolex service centers. I just received my DSSD back from service time. Is it normal for them to not fix scratches on the underside of the case?

Thanks in advance

I hear they don't do case polishing unless specified in the beginning, then it gets added to the bill.

That’s what I was thinking, but they did clean up the rest of the case.

Did they just clean it (usually part of a basic service) or polish out any marks?

They polished the sides of the case, they brushed the top of lugs and cleaned the scratches on the sides of the bezel. That is why I was confused by the scratches left on the underside of the case/lugs.

Complain about it, that seems like a half arsed job to me.
Take dated pics and send them in an email.

Call Rebecca Baitz, I hear she's been a huge help in the past.

Hope it works out.

Interestingly, I've met some Rollie collectors who don't wish to send their watches in to Rolex for service because the company is somewhat notorious for trying to make the watch look like it just came out of the factory--including changing out dials, etc., which apparently diminishes value.

The last one I sent in was my Day/Date President for a general tuneup. I specifically told them not to replace any components without contacting me first - especially on the dial, crystal and case and to leave all the now dead tritium on the black tapestry dial and the hand set just as it is. Further, I told them unequivocally not to polish the case or the bracelet, that I valued the soft patina of tiny scratches it has acquired over the years. Got it back in 2 months @ $985.00. Had been running about 6 seconds fast per day, now down to 3 thus far.

I found them incredibly rude. They wouldn't even look at my SKX007.
