I got this in an auction here. It seems pretty flimsy, the back is not screw down and am wondering how much splashing this watch can handle.

I have that watch, purchased back in 2005/04 when the brand was actually worth a shit. Changed the battery once in all of those years. I went out and purchased a silicone band and have had no issues. I have gone diving with mine over the years but plenty of rain. It is more water resistant IMHO than many out there.

That's also the Croton Vortex, aka Pineapple! Looks like a screw down caseback, but I guess it could have fake spots for the caseback opener. Wanted one years ago until I saw how thiccccc they are.

The back does look like a screw-down one (unless the recesses for the wrench are there for decoration). Perhaps you meant the crown? For what it's worth, there's plenty of watches out there rated water resistant to 100m, yet not equipped with a screw-down crown. Probably safe to use it in the rain or to take it swimming. I wouldn't trust it on a dive, but then again, I don't dive...
