Sea-Gull ST7 automatic news...

Postby AlbertaTime » April 10th 2015, 12:52pm

Mid-late 1970s 天津手表厂 Sea-Gull ST-7 auto day-date, trial run (Shizhi/试制) product, only 2-3000 made.

Purchased mine in 2009 for $150. Present price for another owner's piece, and almost assuredly going to sell at that price: 9800RMB or about $1580 :-)

Sweet. You got an eye for watches, you must be over the moon on that investment.

It's sorta like I got in at the tail end of the ground floor. One collector I know in Beijing has a Beijing model 1 he bought about 8 years ago for less than 300 RMB (about $50USD).

Now? 100,000 RMB or about $16,000USD.

I doubt I'll find one at a price I can afford :-)

Noice! I'm not sure which I like better, the little tray lookin' kinda deal or the watch.

Hey, thanks all. It's just fascinating to me where all of this obsession has taken me ;-) I always feel really fortunate.

Thanks 3F. I mean, the watch is really very plain, straight up...but wears nicely.

And thanks, again. The tray is part of a 2 sitting matched set, a setting being 2 nesting flat ceramic dishes, a Chinese meal setting, with matching chopsticks, and chopstick rest. You can see the larger plate below. It's about 4 times the size of the dish wearing the watch. I just loved the texture of it.
