Loss

Postby catnap » January 18th 2018, 4:09am

I was in hospital this morning for my long awaited hip replacement. A cold I’d picked up a few days ago caused it to be cancelled last minute. I was given the bad news stood in my fancy, hospital supplied, disposable paper underpants. The underpants, which had to be thrown, can be replaced. My 2 weeks unnecessary abstinence can’t.

It may seem inconvenient, but your cold could have jeopardized everything under the sun if you went through with it. From problems under anesthesia, the procedure, pain meds, more susceptible to infections, recovery etc...
It's the right thing to wait. It's a pain in the ass, a let down and very inconvenient, but it is the right thing to wait.

If you were to develop an infection of that hip prosthesis it could mean real trouble. Been there, had that - the emergency surgery, the PIC line, the Vancomycin infusion pump, the 6 wk. recovery...not to mention prophylactic antibiotics for the next 5 years. Not worth it, cat.

2 weeks of abstinence, that is bitter. Oh wait, I meant a couple of bitters. So - all over again, let me see - that makes 4 weeks? Oh je...

Yeah I know, surgeon made the right call. I actually feel like shit, there’s alot of Antipodean flu making the rounds over here (I guess retaining the Ashes wasn’t enough). Sorry to hear about your hip falstaff, this hip replacement business is no walk in the park.

Do what you have to do, cat. Be smart; I'd reckon it's all for your own good. And best of luck with the entire procedure as well.
Bet those Swiss Legend owners are so happy their "Sapphitek" crystals have a 10-year warranty. Oh, wait...

It really blows that you had to go on the wagon for two weeks for nothing.

Friend of mine needed both hips replaced. Got the first one done, then didn't follow recovery instructions for activity and botched it up. The other hip won't be getting done any time soon. Good call for sure to be ready and compliant, best of luck.
