My impressions on the Jiusko Speedmaster....

Postby eddiea » October 6th 2014, 4:12pm

The Jiusko first caught my attention when they first starting to appear on some of the watch forums , a fairly new Chinese/Taiwanese brand based in Guangzhou mainland China , with appealing aesthetics and a departure from the cookie cut /me too brands.
On the wrist...

I received the watch from the JIUSKO USA folks for the purpose of a hands on review thanks to the personal recomendation of Ron (AlbertaTime) , JIUSKO USA is an authorized dealer with full factory warranty benefits .
The watch comes packaged in a Pelican case that contained the warranty and instruction booklets (in Chinese  ) all in a nice leather bound card holder , also included was a cleaning cloth and a handy shopping tote with the Jiusko logo, overall a nice presentation package.
Image
The Speedmaster uses a Seiko Epson/TMI YM92 quartz module , this movement uses a tuning fork quartz oscillator with a 32,768 Hz frequency rate, that is both very reliable and accurate, Seiko claims a conservative mean accuracy of 20 seconds+- per month... on the wrist however is much better, yielding 1 second a week fast consistently , it is fitted with hour/minutes /small seconds (at 9) hands, as well as a 1/20 seconds chronograph with 12 hours totalizer and date (capable of quick date set) battery life is 3 years.
Image
Case is stainless steel/43mm which is within the perfect size range for my 7' wrist and very well balanced , a nice cobalt blue outer bezel ring is a nice touch, like the chrono pushers design, crown and flat sapphire crystal (that can benefit from an antireflective coating application) ...the oil pressed dial work is nice with the small seconds sub-dial duplicating the cobalt blue outer bezel/crown and chrono hand color, lume is weak but surprisingly resilient lasting about 5 hours before fading away, rated at 100meters W/R .
Nicely detailed caseback..
Image
The watch comes with a comfortable, sporty 22mm rubber strap with a scissors style clasp and can easily be dress up with a leather strap (already on a Dimo blue strap I ordered).

Is hard to beat the value/price ratio on the Jiusko, very well executed for the price point.....recommended!

I think one of the best things about this particular brand is that it appears you don't have to go on a 'Net safari to find them; apparently, Jiusko USA is now an Amazon seller, and a few of the models there are fulfilled by Amazon to boot. It really does look like the price points are really impressive considering what these watches are.

Nice job as always, eddie; you are a source of solid information, as always.
