Thoughts on an Android

Postby Bkc97 » May 6th 2013, 5:20pm

I wanted a green dial watch that matched the color of my first "real" car - a '69 Cuda. About a year ago I saw this on Shop for $112. (the same watch is on Amazon today for an unbelievable $300).

The dial color is just what I wanted and has an attractive wave design. Hands and markers are advertised as super luminova.

It's paired up with a 24mm BJ Strap with lime green stitching, 5 mm thick. BJ makes a good strap, but the lead time is a little long.

The watch has a Seagull TY2806 automatic hacking movement. I have not bothered syching it with the atomic clock, but it keeps decent time. Case diameter is 50mm- my absolute upper limit- and it works well with my 8.75 inch wrist. It has an internal rotating bezel, a plus for me as I get tired of the ubiquitous unidirectional external bezel.

It has a screw down back and crown and it's water resistance had held up.

This IMO is a good value for the dollars spent, as are my other Androids.

The Lume is surprisingly good, and the time is readable all night. Finish on the case is utilitarian - and comes off as a mat grey.

I like Android. Wing isn't an ex-con lying jag off, he's not orange, and their customer service has a good reputation. I have emailed them with post-purchase questions and have always received prompt responses. I have several other Androids and I'm satisfied with most of them.

Here are the pics:

I am not fond of the purple watch, but if Android made a Puppy edition, I'd be all over it...I already bought new shoes in hopes that they will.

Well, Bkc, I'm kind of on the fence about this one; good manners dictate that I either say something good about your watch or at least say nothing at all.

The color's not bad, the design's not bad, but Jesus Christ, 50-fucking-millimeters? Pure lunacy. The Seagull movement's not bad, either--I've said some good things myself about Seagull, at least their hand-cranker chronograph.

I've got no real beef with Wing, either. He seems like a decent-enough guy. If you're happy with it, good for you.

I like it. I believe this is what they refer to as the Armor 50. (AD513). And yes they do make it in purple..cuz that's the one I own. Your wrist size is the same as mine. With the leather strap the 50mm should be fine. Mine still has the OEM bracelet and it's a beast I tell you, Image .. a beast.

Doesn't wrist size dictate what case size works? I agree that 50mm is big, but on a large wrist it may not be pure lunacy as Lord Conjurer suggests.

Ratios of case diameter to wrist size are:

45mm=1.77 in/6.75= .26
50mm=1.96 in/8.75= .22

So a 45mm case on a 6.75 inch wrist is "bigger" than a 50mm case on a wrist that's 8.75 inches.

50mm=1.96 in/6.75 = .29

On a 6.75 inch wrist, a 50mm would be silly big.

Just food for thought. On my wrist (8.75) 50mm looks ok, but it's my upper limit.

I didn't post the mini review here in hopes that everyone would like it, both positive and negative comments are welcome. Like it? Fine. Don't like it? I don't care.

I agree with Conjurer and your photo is further evidence that he is correct

45 mm on a 6.75 wrist would be all wrong.

Spoken like a true Bogan. I've worn 45mm watches on my 6.75 inch wrist, and have had French supermodels offer to blow me when they saw me wearing them. And yes, they were female French supermodels, although with the French sometimes it's hard to tell.

Just as a watch can be too large, it can be too small. Anything less than 45mm on my wrist looks like I'm wearing a dime. I like Androids, but would never pay $300 for one.
We called another exterminator to take care of the rat problem in the basement. This one hasn't come out either.

It's your perception. I used to think the same, anything I buy now will be 43mm at the most

Example 42mm watch on an 8.25" wrist

Are you sure it was the watch that led to the blow job offer? Perhaps it was your acid washed jeans and ugg boots?

Whichever. Getting a blow job offer from a female French model is almost always an event to celebrate!

This in no way implies that there would be anything wrong with getting a similar offer to suck your pee pee from a male or transgendered French model, as diversity is of paramount importance in a progressive society.

They may be French and supermodels, but can they do this?

It's not about the diameter of the watch it's the height that make those TV brands look clownish.

This is a very good summarization of how I've come to feel about Android and Herr Wingmeister. He took the inevitable 50mm plunge a few seasons back, so I don't buy a lot of 'Wingy' stuff these days...

As to BJ's from female French officers, I will need to conduct many, many more in-lab and outdoor experiments with my dear friend, LT longues jambes serrées cul, whose picture is below, courtesy of HF, a true Connoiseur de Cunnilingus, if ever there were one...

So you are more in favor of girth vs. length

For what its worth, I think anything over 44mm looks silly on my 8.5" wrist and 14mm is my upper limit on height.
