WTB: Seiko SRP043 - "spork" but not just for any idiot

Postby ariksokol » December 4th 2015, 5:55pm

Where the hell am I to find this watch? I've looked around and it seems like Seiko decided to pull a shitty trick on me by getting me interested in a watch and then traveling back in time, and discontinuing it

Do you have any sources? Know a guy? Think they suck? Hear of one for sell somewhere? Have badass skills at setting up a google sale alert?

I'm new here, so maybe cut me a little slack..

If no one responds. Try posting a thread on the Seiko, Citizen Forum at WUS.

I bought one for my business partner about 2 years ago that I found on ebay. They pop up occasionally. I just kept checking ebay and WUS daily.

The most important thing, irrespective of the watch you're looking for, is to be very, very, very patient. Don't allow yourself to feel in any way anxious or nervous. Make up your mind that the watch will be yours, and move along accordingly. I know it sounds like new age boolsheet, but it really works, laying a solid foundation upon which your search will be built. It's how I got my two King Seiko's and my much-loved Grand Seiko -- and a goodly number of other watches too numerous to list without putting you to sleep... 8-)

Now then, where are my moonstone crystals and Mozambiqui mood ring...? :?

I keep tabs on Spork sales along with several other rare Seiko's. I promise you'll find one, they truly aren't that rare. Keep tabs on WuS and eBay and I'd be surprised if you didn't find one within a month or two. I also wouldn't pay more than $500 as an absolute maximum for one, but that's my personal opinion. People are starting to jack the prices up of Sporks and Titanium Samurais to absurd levels, and at least in the case of the Samurai people definitely aren't biting. I've seen those things list for $1,000 or more. Yeah right.

Just keep looking! You'll get one. ;)

Not sure of the going rate for a Sammie, but mine sold for a little under US$800 a while back. So US$400-500 for a spork sounds about right.

The funniest thing, I had it on WUS (pre-ban) for like US$600. Several wads messaged me incessantly, insisting that it was worth US$450 tops!
