The Ressence Type 1 SquaredF

Postby koimaster » August 9th 2017, 3:31pm

First introduced back in January at the SIHH, the Type 1 Squared offers a different take on Ressence's signature time-telling system. Sure, the orbital discs are still there, and the look is still minimal and designy, but the entire package is a lot less curvy. Instead of a domed crystal and a similarly-shaped caseback, there's a slightly square case that's extra slim and has carefully honed edges. While it's definitely a departure from the standard Type 1, it looks downright alien next to the bubble-shaped Type 3 and Type 5. ... d-hands-on

Oh,Hell No!!

I do like that it has a handle on the back so that you can carry it if your wrist gets chafed and such.

Why, he's no fun, he fell right over.

$20k for what? Too many questionable design elements that would annoy me.

Saw the original Ressence at a RedBarPDX meeting; it was a sight to behold - a very cool watch that I'll never own. For the locals, Ron Tonkin's son brought it. Not sure I care for this Panny mash-up version.

In all the Ressence watches, save for the really cool movement module and display, the setting system alone is quite something- I mean, they must have made quite an extensive modification of the keyless works... However, their prices are nuts. No, seriously, off the fucking trolley. That's the sort of money that buys an AP Royal Oak (the Extra-Thin ref. 15202ST, aka "Jumbo"). No matter how hard I try to see how the Ressence could even compare, I can't. It may well have the funky looks, but the finishing and the movement fall quite far behind pretty much anything at the same price point.
Even the Rolex Cellini Moonphase, at north of $26K, almost looks like a bargain compared to the Ressence; given my heartfelt contempt for Rolex's MSRPs, if compared to something they start to look like a bargain, that "something" must be pretty fucking bad.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
