The Grönefeld 1941 Remontoire

I honestly thought Grönefeld would find it very difficult to improve on the 1941 Remontoire. This is a serious award-winning watch, after all. But I've just been proven wrong. The Dutch brothers have bested themselves with the introduction of a stainless steel model with an absolutely killer guilloché dial, made by Kari Voutilainen and sealed under a fine coat of enamel by Inès Hamaguchi. It’s a team effort, but it all comes together very coherently and to great effect.

The 1941 Remontoire was released by the Grönefeld brothers just this past year, and it’s a watch that is special for a variety of reasons. On a purely personal level, because Oldenzaal, the city from which they both hail, has a church clock with a remontoire, and because their father and grandfather have both been responsible for running it, going back to 1912. And, on a professional note, because it took the top Men’s Watch prize at the 2016 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). ... namel-dial
