New Member saying Hello

Postby DCScot27 » March 8th 2017, 9:42am

Hi, I'm a new member on the forum so I'm introducing myself i.a.w. the administrator's prompting!
I'm a Scot who lives in England and has also lived for many years in the USA and Germany.
My first impression is that the forum is an interesting collection of threads and potentially very useful for advice, parts etc.
My preference is for 'normal' or understated watches rather than the latest generation of outsized monsters but that's just me.
I've started to become more interested in a wider variety of watches as my collection takes shape.

Current state of the collection is:

* Recently acquired 1966 Omega Constellation gold cap 168.005. Will need some work as it's slightly fast and irregular. A beautiful classic IMHO. Normally worn on a honey coloured ostrich strap.
* 1972 Rolex Explorer 1016 - mine from new. Regular repairs/servicing and as strong and accurate as ever.
* 1998 Omega Speedmaster Reduced/racing (Schumacher) 3810.61.41 in s/s & red dial. Bought for spouse but she thinks it too big for her so it's now my chronograph. I have previously had 2 x big block Tudor chronographs; one stolen and the other changed for the Tudor Sub below.
* 2002 Tudor Submariner 75190 in s/s & blue dial. beautiful and my default watch.
* 2003 Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Duo 270.2.51 in rose gold. Bought for myself as a 'retirement present' as I didn't get one from work - and because I'm worth it. Very special occasions only.

Welcome Don. I decided to prompt new members so I can ascertain who is a real person interested in the forum vs a member who passes by and never comes back. Several well known watch forums were hacked last year and my job is to try to prevent that here.

Great collection, you should get along well with Smellody who between his many Rolex, Tudor and Omega watches, transports them in his Rolls Royce. When I was hospitalized a couple of years ago he parked it in the parking lot. Several of my nurses questioned my choice of friends and thought I was a snob. I told them it was really a VW in drag.

Welcome! All them Brits and Scots and Englishmen, that is all due to the Brexit, I am sure. Existential crisis on the British Isles. Btw. we never discuss politics here, that is a too hot topic.
