Good morning all

Good morning all

Postby Beau nidle » November 10th 2015, 3:44am

Hi all

Just a quick introduction.

I'm based in the UK (although some of my formative years were in Chicago and Syracuse and I still have family in DC). Very much into my watches, current collection is a bit slimmed down at the moment as I've tried to rationalise, but I'm sure it won't last (evil bug this game of ours).

Currently in the winder or on the wrist are a JLC Master Hometime, a Tudor Heritage Ranger (converted to destro), a Steinhart Ocean 1 Vintage Military and a sweet little Certina DS Podium that needs a rotor-ectomy when I get around to doing it.

Other things I'm into are building and riding bicycles, flying my UAV (getting as much use out of it as I can before they are inevitably banned) and enjoying a good bottle of wine in the evening.

Married, two kids (11 and 2) with several pets including a bearded dragon, a pond full of Koi carp and a Spanish Water Dog called Chico.

The truly nice thing about integrated strap/bracelet watches..... it prevents someone from fucking them up with a gay NATO strap.

That, my piscine chap, is Lord Flashheart. He of such lines as 'Come here for a snog nursey!', 'Woof!' and 'am I pleased to see you, or is this a canoe in my pants?'. A legend and a hero to all.

Didn't we have a French guy who kept fucking up watches with "lefty mods?"

Nonetheless, a cautionary welcome.

Anyone wanna' give odds on troll activity?

The nice thing about the ETA 2824-2 movement is the positioning of the dial feet. Means that you can simply rotate the dial and reset the hands (assuming you're not using the date function) to go destro. No fucking up (resoldering tabs or <shudder> gluing dials). Ten minute job and a re-seal to reverse the process should you wish. Personally I find the Heritage Ranger is nice to wear loose rather than above the wristbone. Given that the crown is quite substantial I prefer it not digging into the back of my hand. My other watches are all vanilla.

I can assure you that I've yet to be accused of trolling :D Still, I could give it a go if it would help?

Good thinking, but no, although possibly he was part of the inspiration?

Flashheart was a character from the thoroughly excellent Blackadder series. He appeared in two forms, once as a dashing Walter Raleigh-esque character in the series set in the Elizabethan court and once as an airman in the series set in WW1.

Here's a link to his entrance into the court chamber in Elizabethan guise;

Good grief, Loaf, not every one who comes here is a troll.

Welcome to the forum. You have to excuse big loaf, he read too many Grimm's fairy tales in his recent past.

I've just fed 'em a couple of handfuls of fish food, when I see them again in the morning I'll say you said hi! (there's a hell of a lot of them though, so I wouldn't worry about Christmas presents).

Howdy, Beau, and welcome to Watchlords! Your real name wouldn't happen to be Onslow, would it? (He's the only other "bone idle" Englishman I've ever had acquaintance with, though he was never lazy when it came to watching Open University -- and racing, of course -- on the telly...) If so, please keep your Hyacinth away from me.

If you get the chance, please post a pic of your spinach worter dawg, Cheeko. I love dawgs, y'see...

Oh, and don't worry about Big Loaf or codmeister; they're both good guys. Um, most of the time, anyhow.

Glad you're here, mate! 8-)

Hi Mortuus, thanks for the welcome.

Beau Nidle was the name Death took when he joined the Foreign Legion in a Terry Pratchett book many years ago, just tickled me I guess. I suppose we should be mates on that basis?

The Perro de Agua Español Estupido (to use his formal name) will be happily exposed for the furry idiot he is once I locate the inevitable (and welcome) 'show us your dogs' thread.

It was the whole "pond of Koi" thing. Being a little bit overly protective.

Allow me a proper welcome...

Hidey-ho, Beau!

Please answer the following three questions:
1) Should pubic hair be removed?
2) How clean is your crapper?
3) Is it worse to have a PM who had sexual congress with a pig head or a Presidential candidate who couldn't keep her husband's cock in his pants?

You asked, you shall receive. Pet World forum.

Weeeeellll,

To take you point by point;
1) Pubic hair should be removed on pornstars, but wives and girlfriends should retain at least a smidgeon so that we don't feel like paedophiles.
2) My arse sparkles. It is in fact dangerous to approach it without EW8 rated welding goggles if it's had a recent polish.
3) Please don't even get me started on the ludicrousness of the current Presidential candidates as I fear I may offend. Ben Carson? Seriously? Hmmm. However our shiny pink-cheeked pig fucker may have his faults, but overall I'd let him buy me a drink. TBH in my student days I did equally stupid things (although as pig teeth are pretty snaggly things I think I would pass at that one through fear of withdrawal laceration).

t'anks for the welcome!
