SSL Certificates added for extra security

Postby koimaster » June 14th 2016, 8:58am

Today I had SSL certificates added to the server. SSL Certificates, sometimes called digital certificates, are used to establish a secure encrypted connection between a browser (user's computer) and a server (website). The SSL connection protects sensitive data, such as credit card information, exchanged during each visit (session) and (2048-bit SSL Secure Sockets Layer with TLS Encryption, browser trust). I purchased the Wildcard plus version which covers all of the domains hosted on our server including Watchlords and Watchforums.

This is in addition to the firewall we have which authenticates SSL packets coming into the forum, holds them in a sort of limbo, and then if they are malware free will add a second SSL authentication certificate certifying they are malware/ransom ware free. If they are suspect or contain malware they are not allowed into the forum by the firewall. The wildcards in the numbers below are to dissuade hackers from trying to find the certificate numbers.

Good news, AutoSSL has successfully renewed the Domain Validated (DV) certificate for "watchlords.com". This does not require any further action by you.

Chats, email, research, browsing - these interactions make up the bulk of activity on the web. All of these actions can be intercepted. An SSL ensures those transactions remain private – between your visitors and your website.

I upgraded our current SSL certificate to cover this forum as well as watchforums.net. Well worth the extra cost. One thing is does is validate the domains as authentic, secure and also encrypts data.

•Your visitor's information and browsing history remain private
•Your website is trusted - by visitors and search engines
•Your Customer's information and transactions are safe
