Christopher Ward C1 Morgan Chronometer Watches

Postby Racer-X » March 9th 2017, 1:40pm

"The watch world is full of collaborations between watch brands and car manufacturers, sometimes to an eye-rolling degree. I have to say, however, that the partnership of Christoper Ward and Morgan Motor Company seems apt and actually quaint. That is mostly because the two companies are English, but also because they share similar philosophies and approaches to doing business - a stubborn focus on classic designs, a genuine pursuit of innovation, and the guts to shake things up a little. If you know each company, you will know that I'm not exaggerating. As a result of this partnership (announced here), Christoper Ward and the Morgan Motor Company now present us with the new C1 Morgan Chronometer watch collection."

I like the version with the power reserve indicator- the applied Morgan logo looks a bit gaudy and out of place in the basic version.

Bias and prices aside, I think these are 3 really great looking watches. Especially the Morgan Aero 8.

OK looking

I think they've butchered their brand.

I think the font used for Christopher Ward looks way too plain when paired with the Morgan logo.

^^ Yep, I like these but the new CW font doesn't work here. Too modern and pedestrian.

I'm with you on this one.

They should have partnered with manufacturers of skinny jeans and pork-pie hats.

Well, Mr. Conjurer, there is certainly a lot of truth to that visual representation of the more or less loose associations that each of the two logos evokes. And truth be told, it also shows their main problem- they can't really find the golden mean. One logo was over the top, almost comically retro. At least in my opinion. The other - the new one - seems to have its roots in the wrong sort of minimalism; the sort that unfortunately can be associated with more or less effeminate folk characterised by their affinity for wearing very ghey outfits.
