That's a cool looking Timex, John; I look forward to your pics and impressions. I believe that's the first Timex I've seen with a cyclops.

Early to mid 70's is my guess but as to the exact year????
I defer to the forum's vintage experts

EDIT:
Found this, and 1976 it is.....interestingly, this has no cyclops either, and until I confirm it tonight, pretty sure my Dad's didn't have one as well. Could have been a mod

Awesome!
Cyclops-crystals were (and are) available as after-market replacements. E.g. I had one on a Tissot 516GL once. They do look stupid (even on a Rolex), but that is only my opinion.

It arrived and I was very excited to see it. It looks almost brand new. Interesting when compared to my dad's Timex I believe the dial on his faded and the one I received now is the original color.

Unfortunately although it was running for two days it's stopped now. I'm trying to monkey around with it to see if I can get it going again. I was just getting ready to take some pics too.

If I can't get it running again I might need to rely on the vintage experts knowledge.

Not to be a bearer of possibly bad news but....I think the Timex automatic movements from that era were designed to be affordable and thus not exactly made with TLC. I hear that, at best, they are a royal pain to attempt to service. Be prepared and good luck. I hope you get it back on track.

Too bad it's not running. That's a really interesting Timex, cyclops or no. Keep us posted by all means; new pics, even if it's not running, wouldn't be bad. We all could at least pretend.

I hear you guys. I remember many years ago trying to get my Timex serviced and no jeweler would touch it. I'm amazed at my dad's watch still running after all these years. Right now I got it started again so I'm going to see if I might have overwound it

Pics... The one on the left is the new one. Compare the dial color to my dad's on the right. Pretty sure the dial faded over years of working outside in the sun

That faded dial is really nice. And the new one is quite sharp.

Nice looking watch. I do like the look of a lot of the vintage watches of that era but am usually disappointed by the 34mm or less case size. Thirty-eight mm would be doable for me. Given the typical case sizes of the time I wonder if watch collectors then thought 38mm was an outrage.
