And the beat goes on

And the beat goes on

Postby foghorn » March 7th 2018, 2:18pm

Sold 2 so naturally had to get 1.
I've been looking at Magrette Moana Pacifics for awhile but they were always only available on pre order and at, 44 mm , just too big. Jaw had one and ever since I saw his pics I was hooked. But they were to big. One of the new 42 mm versions came up recently at recon and I decided (after a couple beverages) that it was now or never. Words imparted to me by Eddiea rang in my head.

"The Item you saw today and want to think about tonight will be sold later today to the people who saw it yesterday and thought about it last night!

So I bought it and got it today. just before another damn Nor'easter hits. Perfect timing.

42mm,sapphire,Matte finish ceramic lumed bezel

Very nice rubber deployantment strap. Also came with a gray "pass through" Nato style strap.

A bit chubby at about 15mm but that just adds to the 500meter W/R badassidiousness of the watch.

LE of 500 pcs and a nicely decorated STP1-11 movement protected by a sapphire window for your viewing pleasure,as it were.

Here iz howz iz the loom?

Handsome watch.

Very cool. You should send that to Bedlam to test out that 500m rating.

I like that bezel, never seen a matt one before. I bet it looks good on a NATO.

It's neat that the series number you got matches your age -- from three years ago... I mean, how rare is that?" It's a very cool looking watch, and I like the decorated rotor. I'm not much fond of the brand name, "Magrette." You see, I once lived in open sin with a young woman, named Magrette, who once told me that the clerk in the Birth Certificate Office in Algeria left out the "R" that was supposed to come between the "a" and the "g" which would have made her "Margrette," a far more feminine name than the crude "Magrette," which she hated.

Magrette was a druggy, but she could cook like no one's business, often coming out with some amazing repasts, such as banana stew, potato nut bread Log, leek cheese and mozzarella legume crumble, to name a few. Sadly, as she deepened her affair with drugs, her cooking suffered, and the names of the dishes took on a dark & sinister naming, as well as a look & feel that reminded me of that black Invicter quartz assterpiece mongo was trying to unload from his flat in the seedier part of Nashville, where he hoped to become a country singer (his first single, appropriately enough, on Booger Records, "My Baby Took Muh Dawg & Drank Herself to Death in My Old Pick-'em-Up Last Night" had received a lukewarm reception, at best, so mongo was looking for a quick scam score to hold him over until his next record, "Marble Peaches & Stone Titties Are All I Have Left of You"). You see, this box of wartches fell off the back of a Frito-Lay-Cheetos truck, bound for who-knows-where, and mongo managed to save it.

What an IRONY it was for mongo to find himself suddenly with a case of shitty Invicter quarts wartches, but he didn't take too much time to dwell on it. There were 36 SUBABDANOMA EyE EyE EyE Moon Base wartches in the box, and if he could get, say, $50 per copy from an unsuspecting public, he could rake in 1800 smacks, and that bought a LOT of generic Listerine Blue, baby, a hell of a lot. In the meantime, Margrette was losing all touch with reality, her head full of coke, meth, and even homemade Jenkem from the prison shitroom where mongo worked part time and had access to an endless supply of it's main ingredient. I became terribly worried when she put a plate of sardines in merengue in front of me for dinner one night. The next night we had pulled pork in aspic, then chocolate-lobster cake for breakfast the next day.

She became more & more withdrawn, and she expected me to stay away from my friends, just as she did hers, and spend all out time with her invicter collection. Then, when she found out I was banging Lisa Bonet and Stella Stevens, she had a fit and threw me outta the house. And that's all I remember, except for vague memories of a doomed-from-the-start threesome with Lisa & Stella that started badly and went nowhere fast. And THAT was right about the time a friend of mine from New York called me and told me to check up on our mutual friend, the actor Fred Gwynne, whom he said was very sad and was in need of some cheering from friends. I asked him why Fred was sad, but he didn't know. So I called the next day and asked Fred, "Why the long face, pal?"

Anyhow, that's a very cool watch , Fogy! But I'm more into round watches, these days.
