New to me Yema seaspider

New to me Yema seaspider

Postby svaglic » March 2nd 2018, 12:10pm

When I was looking for the Seiko air diver with the 4s15, I saw a few of these up for sale. Thinking they were common enough I figured I'd get one later. Turns out they really weren't common and it took me some time to find one. They came in a silver and black dial too, but I held out for the blue. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get one with the box, but it wasn't a deal breaker. It didn't come with all the links, but it has enough for me to remove two for a good fit.
I didn't have a Yema and this was the one that stuck with me when I saw one. I thought the 42mm might look big, but the lugs are short and it doesn't look out of place on my wrist.

I got a sort of steel blue textured dial, a 4s15 movement and a Yema.

Here is one that shows the blue more and how it changes shades.

I feel satisfied. I'm still looking for a few on my list and waiting for the Armida 62mas homage and the Puck V2 44mm to come out, but for the most part I am satisfied.

I love the way the light hits the side of the guilloche dial effect and reveals the different shades of blue in the resulting light refraction. Very cool. Does it have an enclosed or an exhibition back? (Do you have a pic of the backside?) Cool pick-up, and I got to learn about a brand I'd never heard before. Many thanks, Al! 8-)

I had to wait on it from France. I wasn’t even sure if the translation I had was correct or not. I went off pictures mostly. I got lucky.

I have to say that, when I saw the name 'Sea Spider,' I thought, "Oh, NO, not an invicter Sea Spider"...but then I saw what you were talking about. It's really cool, and I'm very, very pleased that you found what you were looking for, mon ami...I mean, even those poor guys in U2 still haven't found what they were looking for! ;)

Here is the back Mort.
Image

The bracelet is 18mm, signed clasp and diver extension.
Image

A side view. The crown is screw down and is not signed, the inner bezel crown is also unsigned.
The crystal is domed, making pictures tough on me. 13mm high.

And, another dial shot.

I was thinking along those lines before. It's all new to me, but I really like it and it's particularly unique.

Great job; I like the methodical way you go on searches. Nice!

Yema would have been owned by Seiko at that time, so it makes sense using that movement. Interesting that the dial doesn't say where it was made. Nice find Allison, congratulations.
