Late to the party

Late to the party

Postby catnap » February 21st 2018, 3:58pm

So after years of rotating GShox I’ve got myself a classic Seiko again thanks to Alain a few weeks back.
Having owned many a 6309 over the years, in all their guises, putting this on my wrist felt like catching up with an old friend. I was initially a little reticent about this reissue from Seiko but there was nothing to worry about. Seiko have done a great job. They’ve stayed very true to the original with a few tweaks. The case, crystal and bezel function look the same except Seiko have included drilled lugs on this offering, these get a big thumbs up from me. The starburst blue dial, orange/red minute hand give this watch a classy Caribbean vibe. I’d like to see a blue bezel version but the Pepsi works well enough. The lume is Seiko so no problems there.
The bracelet although excellent was just a little heavy for me so after a little research I came across Uncle Seikos Z199 reissue. Weighing in at approx 60gr, it really lightens this watch on the wrist. Thanks for looking.

Nice. I had a chance to buy one cheap at Christmas time and passed; my dumb ass.

Its a great dive watch. I think it outpoints the SKX007

Seiko is going a little batshit with the PADI models, but this one is absolute perfection and, IMHO, still the best model of the Re-Turtle.
