Just in. Xmas present for myself.

Just in. Xmas present for myself.

Postby foghorn » December 29th 2017, 9:34am

On the sage advice from a knowledgeable WIS and the fact that these were on sale for the week leading up to Xmas I had no choice but to double my collection of bronze case watches. Now I have 2. The Steinhart that I recently got is made of Aluminum Bronze which , in time , takes on a more subdued lighter brownish/red patina than my new watch, which is Cusn6 bronze which is quicker to react and less subdued in the patina dept. In fact the new one had already started to develop a patina when it arrived. I'm sure the fact that it shipped from Thailand was a major factor, given the tropical climate and all.
The brand is Zoretto and I believe is owned by a German. Shipping was fairly fast via Fed Ex given that Xmas was in the equation. Only took 6 days from order to door.
Also included was a nice leather 5 watch roll and an extra set of 24 mm spring bars.
OK enough bull shit-here's the watch.

As you can see it was well travelled

No stone left unturned by the US customs in Anchorage

Nice heavy leather band w/bronze buckle. Double domed sapphire makes the watch a PITA to photograph.

Looks vaguely familiar

I chose the green dial over blue or black. I was told, and agree, that I am going through my green phase so don't be envious.

I'm taking a shine to this 44ish mm 200m W/R sumbitsch. I thought it would be too big but it looks too damn good (to me) to let a couple mm get in the way.

Merry Xmas to me. from me.

Well it is a good thing to see that the US Fish and Wildlife Division is on their game - especially since the package was being delivered to a rooster.

Nice pick up.

That patina would drive me nuts if I were taking a picture of the watch. I guess some of us (me) just aren't ready yet. The bronze really takes center stage more so than the Steinhart with the bezel insert, congrats.

It's definitely not for everybody.

Well I got it for the patina that develops, over time, on bronze to give it an aged, weathered look. I believe this is caused by the effects of oxidation.

Rust is also a form of oxidation ,which occurs on some metals, though less desirable.

And you are called Rusty.

Therefore..............................................

Yup, I am fully oxidated. And tonight on NY's eve, I hope to be fully inebriated. Best for a happy and healthy new year to you, fogs, and all the Lords here.

We dead folks despise and fear oxidation almost as much as direct sunlight and premature decomposition. Thank God for embalming fluid! It gives us a nice buzz and helps us keep our youthful appearances up indefinitely. And, for celebration, I've got a lovely bottle of Merlot-flavored formaldehyde waiting at home for tonight! Yep, it's good to be dead, especially with the Santa Ana's blowing dry & hot from the north, and giving us nice 80-degree temps and literally no humidity for today's po-rade in Passy-Deener... eat yer hartz out, ewe yeast-koast sno-blowerz! 8-)
