Wenger Arctic Light

Wenger Arctic Light

Postby svaglic » December 7th 2017, 5:48pm

I'm really not a fan of quartz watches, I don't have that many. About a year and a half ago Koi posted a Wenger at Massdrop, I almost got it, but thought I could find a better deal. I found a like new open box on eBay for around a hundred, so I got it. I wasn't expecting the Pelican box and the book, I thought it would just come in a small cardboard box.

The top card and cutout for the watch is gone, but everything else is there.

The most comfortable silicone band I've ever tried on, unfortunately I find it ugly. The stitching is a bit weird, I guess they thought it was a good look. I'm not crazy about Wenger going down one side. I'll probably switch it to mesh. It is made well though.

Sapphire crystal, and 200m water resistant. The sapphire crystal is nice, it is flat and there isn't much room between the dial and the crystal. I can glance at various angles and not have any issue reading the time.

Check out the signed screw down crown.

I just love the color of the bezel. That color is why I couldn't get it out of my mind after a year and a half. A petty reason to buy a watch, but.....
I'm not crazy about the map on the dial, but it is better looking than some I've seen, it actually looks better in person than in the pictures. It's claimed to be a laser etch, but it looks like a pressing to me. It's a 120 click bezel, I read somewhere that it is unidirectional, but mine isn't, just one direction for me and that's fine it's what I prefer.

$468.99 is the msrp, there a no way I would pay that. Because it is a quartz. That's just me.
The quality is good, I was very surprised at how well it is machined, the fit and attention to small details. If I knew the quality was this good, I would have ordered it when Koi posted it.
It's 43mm, but the lugs don't go past my wrist and it a Ronda 515 movement. Not a UHF, but I have one for those coming in the next few days. I just added to my quartz watches.

Nice addition. Like that dial and love that bezel color.

Think I have six quartz vs ten autos now. Quartz has really grown on me.

Nothing wrong with quartz - mighty convenient at times.

Nice Wenger - especially for the $

Nice. I like the unique color.

I didn't mind the strap at all. Then I read your comment about the stitching and maybe you've got a point. I don't know... I think I would be okay with it. But I agree it will look great on mesh.

I like the map on the dial. It's something unique.

I am a sucker for arctic themed watches, and this one is really interesting! I actually like the map etching on the dial, and of course the bezel color is wonderful.

Really nice find, you have me pricing these out online also right now!
