Omega Big Yellow

Omega Big Yellow

Postby Kahuna74 » November 15th 2017, 4:34pm

I have been looking for a new (older) Omega seamaster for some time now. Last night I came across this all original Big Yellow from 1971 and fell in love with it. I will have it in about a week and will post some better pictures. This one is buy the seller. The movement in these is a 1002, which are very good movements from what I know. They were used also in the Propof models. After selling my last one to IWB a few years back I missed having a seamaster in my line up and bought a Chrono stop, which mort now owns. I'm hoping this one is a keeper. The Big Yellow are 42mm case size watches, which is about as big as I like to go.

That's cool. 42 mm was humungous back in 71. Funky strap too.

That's funky - from a time when Omega made watches for real people (sorry Oris), with a groundbreaking movment, and before Aeschlimann got his hands on the company and started marketing ten-grand baubles to children like

So this one is okay given your thoughts on Omega as a whole?

That's all around awesome, man! Is the strap OEM? Those babies are getting tough to find in such great shap. Nice catch!

I like the older stuff and anything made up to about 2006, rather like Breitling and Oris. And AP. And Seiko tbh. But the marketing had become shitty since then. I don't much care for the one in the ad either, but that's more because of its size. It accentuates its bulk, but the Yellow doesn't...

I totally agree with you. For me that is just about every company out there right now.

Strap is one of the things that got my attention. From what I have found they came on a bracelet. And they too are getting hard to find.

Cool, when I saw the title I was thinking it was a Schumacher Seamaster. I like yours better. Nice size for a vintage piece, congrats.
