Interestingly, there's not a whole lot I can find wrong with this watch. Indeed, it's rather interesting that they use the old Miyota movement. While the distressed dial could rise some Conjurer ire, for some reason this one doesn't.

I shall look forward to your impressions, you damned old goat.

Nice pickup Mort. Has a Bathyscaphe feel to it.

A Spinnaker to be swavered. I like.

Thought they had stopped putting see through backs on watches or maybe its just the ones I have acquired that are lacking.

I learned something today, seriously - I have never even heard of Spinnaker before this. I must live under a rock or something.

Nice looking piece! Ya never know what's you'll discover in this joint.

I was looking at this brand a couple of years ago. All the ones I really liked were 43 or 44mm, I have been checking back every so often to see if there is a smaller one I like. It always seemed like they had nice looking watches, decent movements and good prices. I look forward to your review.

Superb questions, Foggy old boy, albeit a smidge of dead common commonness in the asking, I'd say, eh wot? Wot-wot? Oh well, noblesse oblige, as they say over at Sandringham House.

The Dial: The dial is not sandstone, but rather a type of "crinkle paint," like we had on those 16mm projector's in Mr. Hall's Science class and Mr. Fairchild's History period. It's also the same type of coating that they put on instruments in older aircraft and battle tanks that gave off a lot of heat, and hence had to deal with some intense temperature swings; the paint was pretty tough stuff and stayed put.

Da Lume ( ): I've added a supplemental slide to my presentation that shows a not-too-bad-if-I-say-so-myself un-retouched photo of the timepiece in full lumed plumáge, if you will, eh-wot! Wot-wot!

A Quick Note for All: Thanks so very much for your very kind words, both about the presentation in general and the watch in particular. These posts mean so much more to me than I'm able to express on these occasions, and all I can seem to do is just say "thank you" over and over again. And so, before I have the chance to do that yet again, I better post this...YOU GUYS (& GALS!) REALLY ROCK!! 8-)

Don't mean to hijack, but Bulova had a model called the "Spinnaker" back in the early 1970's.
As far as I know it only came in two colours, orange and green, and orange was far and away the best yet zaniest colour.

Always a fun read.

I have long admired your maestroness for matchmaking wristage and watches, Mort, but these straps on divers have seemed out of place to me when I've seen them. I like the watch; how's it look on the mesh?

Did you mean the dark green NATO strap that came with it? At present, I don't have a mesh strap that would fit this watch, though I like the idea, as mesh always looks pretty danged spiff on a diver, even spaceman spiff...! ;)

Now that's very, very cool, Bob B! It's sort of reminiscent of, well, this:

Except, I'm certain, mine are a bit easier and more convenient to replace than the one sported by that Bully. Nonetheless, I'm absolutely enchanted (yeah, yeah, I know that's a fágola word, but it truly applies here, così chi dà una merda volante?) by both the watch and its way cool strap. It was definitely not a hijack at all, mio amico, but rather a very cool share, so many thanks and arrivederci! 8-)

Neat addition to the collection. Dial surface is not my thing though.

I was surprised to read it is only 43mm. Looks like it wears larger?

Always a pleasure to see what Mort has brought home and is currently hiding from Mrs. Mort! ;)

Ummm, uhh, hmm- NATO huh? Well, whataya know, it is a NATO :???: Now that I have recalibrated my display, I can see that clearly now. I guess my computer must have gotten it's china rattled a little bit in the truck on the way out here, yeah, that's it, all the vibrations, and bumps and whatnot.
