Certina DS-1 125th Anniversary Set

Certina DS-1 125th Anniversary Set

Postby biglove » September 19th 2017, 7:53pm

My Our new watch set. The wife and I have been married for 23 years last month and together for 25 years.
We don't celebrate anniversaries usually with gifts on that date since we buy all year long.

She has admired my mechanical movement watches but has been reluctant to try one herself. Caught a great deal on this NOS set from Certina's 125th Anniversary collection and couldn't pass it up. She loves hers and I love mine. Hoping she will be fascinated enough with the ETA mech movement to allow me to buy her more.

Mine is a 2824 while hers is a scaled down version, the 2671. Domed sapphire crystals, five link bracelets. Mine has a locking deployant clasp while hers has a butterfly. Sapphire case backs.

And now I am hunting for a Certina LE Precidrive Chrono 125th Anniversary Edition. Out of production, and like these, only 1888 made.

Love that dial design - reminds me of the 1960s Omega Seamaster Cosmic, it had a dial version quite similar to these Certinas.

Congrats to you and your wife on the anniversary.
I bet she is loving that watch, it is nice. You did well on choosing that set.

Thanks again. Wife has worn hers two days running. Anxious to hear her impressions over dinner tonight.

Big surprise in that our son is home this weekend for the LSU game.

Well done, Loaf! For some reason, Missus Mort is not wanting any type of his/hers set (except, of course, H/H Ferrari's), though she did say that she thought yours was beautiful. I suppose I should be grateful, because it's more Bongo Bux for mine own wartch purchases... 8-) Congrats on both the watch and the 23 years with your Lady! (I guess I needn't tell you to enjoy the watches... ;))

Thanks, Mort.

Probably going to have to get her a watch winder. She doesn’t usually wear a watch on the weekends. Frowned when I told her would have to adjust the time today.

Either that or one with an 80 hour reserve.
