Incorrigible WIS

Incorrigible WIS

Postby foghorn » September 6th 2017, 12:02pm

In the past few weeks I've lightened my load ,by necessity and desire, quite a bit. (by my standards.) My ultimate goal is to get down to between 10 or 15 watches.(cue laughter)
I was feeling pretty good about my progress. Then, like the damned old fool that I am, i stopped into TJ's.
Clearance-119.99.
Fuck me.

You just can't help yourself-you're pathetic. I understand. So what time is it in Noumea?

You're not alone...

Looking at a few of their models online. I like the 'Dutch Harbor'. You got a great price.

Congratchewlayshuns, Fogy! That's one gorgeous diversion from your determination to lessen your watch intake, and so forth. That is exactly the Filsson model I've been lusting after, right down to the green stuff here and there, etc. I guess I should be angry at you for picking that very Filssy for that little beet 'o monies, but I guess I'm just too fucking pleased ( ) for you, dickhead. Enjoy the shit out of that soulless bit of quartz Detroit time-telling iron. I'll keep checking my local TJ's, Ross's (Dress for Less!) and the usual suspeckers; at some point I've got to catch a break soon, for cripes' sake... In the meantime, have fun with your new watch and your old pecker...you olde brassarde! :???:

I must be one as well. Not so much WIS as Watch Idiot Consumer, as there's nothing remotely Savvy about spunking more cash on unneeded and unnecessary jewellery. In my case it was a LIP reissue whilst on holiday in the South of France (rather than the North of France, with apologies to Sammy Davis Jr.)

It's not really a LIP, but a watch branded "LIP" from a person who bought the name of that long-dead French business at some flea-bag business auction some years ago, opened a rep office in Besancon and had watches lashed together by a white-labeller in China, then boxed up for retail shipping from a warehouse Nestled At The Foothills Of The Jura Mountains (TM).

So I know what I'm getting! But this particular bargain has the same look as an original Himalaya, a neat-o badge on the dial, is perfectly well finished for the money, and has a movement that will cost $11 to replace in its entirety and that includes shipping, tax and a fresh battery. No complaints...

If you know what you are buying and are happy with the purchase then that is all that counts.
