So I did it, so long SBGA029 hello SBGA031

I've talked about this for a while now and I've finally decided to go for it. You all probably see that I just didn't wear the gorgeous SBGA029 all that much and the majority of the reason why came down to weight and comfort. Even placing it on a strap, the watch was just too top heavy and bothered me in a nagging way.

So I just finished working a pretty good deal with Timeless Luxury to trade in my 029 and get their last, now discontinued 031. Based on what I've seen the 029 sell for on WUS the last few times it came up, they gave me a pretty fair deal all things considered. I'm really excited because I know I'm going to have this one on my wrist all the time and I can't wait to wear it!

To make up the difference, I'm going to unload a couple watches here. Most assuredly my Nomos Tangente DWOB (great watch, but I hardly wear it - just truly prefer sport watches in almost all occasions), and very likely my Darth Tuna.

Absolutely beautiful.
My desire to own a Grand Seiko has never been more turgid.

Just the right amount of two-tone, IMO. Congratulations.

Yes, exactly! The 029's monochrome look is fantastic but the 031 just has that little bit of classy gold on the dial for a perfect accent. Plus I love the look of Seiko's titanium.

That is kick ass... One of my absolute favorites. The gold on the dial is a great off-set. Enjoy!

That's really terrific looking- I really like the look of Seiko's titanium also, too.

One of the few truly distressing things in watch collecting is discovering that a piece you wanted and saved up for just sits on your arm like, well, you know...

Image

...the tendency is to want to grin and wear it, irrespective of fit and comfort. I know I've certainly done this, hoping that the Watch Fairy would come along and make it all better. Congrats on not only getting yourself out of that situation, but doing it with savvy and aplomb. You are an amazing Jedi, young Skywalker; live long and perspire in turgidity...

Thank you for the kind sentiments, Mortuus. You're absolutely on the money, as well.

I should have this beauty tomorrow by 10:30AM :xcx:

It is amazing what seiko has been doing with ti.

Didn't know they discontinued the 31, I find that surprising, I thought it was one of the more distinctive/desirable GS's.

That model is discontinued because Seiko is making Grand Seiko their own brand. Go forward Grand Seiko will be the only writing on the watch dial.

The model is not discontinued, the Grand Seiko is at 12 o'clock now and the model number will now be 231.
