Guess what.....

Guess what.....

Postby themadhungarian » March 30th 2017, 3:18pm

I cancelled my pledge for the Marloe Chronoscope and purchased this:

https://danhenrywatch.com/products/1970

I'm pretty excited about it.

I was wrong to have attacked another member in his New Watch thread, and I'm almost certain I was wrong about this watch. It's hard to beat a hacking Seiko 4R36 movement, sapphire crystal, and 200 meter WR for $250 shipped.
Anyway, along with the purchase of the restored 1987 6309, I've had a good day for watches. I'll post pics and my thoughts the moment the DH arrives.

You might be disappointed if you expect a 4r36

Automatic Seiko Caliber NH35 with 24 jewels

And a "Sapphire coated mineral crystal" ala Sapphlex. Not sapphire.

Just the generic/unbranded version of the 4R36 from SII. Identical in every way, from the research I did. In any case it hacks and handwinds and for the price it's almost unbelievable. I couldn't pass it up after seeing your pics and the specs on the website.

Agreed. Taken as a whole, it's a fantastic value, in my opinion. While I was wrong about the crystal being sapphire (it's hardened mineral glass with anti-reflective on one side), after really looking at it and seeing the specs, this was an easy decision, my previous douchebaggery notwithstanding.

I wish I had wrists big enough to warrant a nice bracelet, especially a 'grains of rice' type.
