My 2nd Grand Seiko en route from Canada

My 2nd Grand Seiko en route from Canada

Postby SaoGage » February 10th 2017, 1:30pm

I had been planning a second GS purchase for some months now, but was having trouble deciding between a Snowflake and a HiBeat model. What did I end up purchasing? Neither :3

So I was checking eBay the other day and I happened upon a well priced model I had never even heard of; the SBGR077 Antimagnetic automatic boutique edition with a white dial and red text. Wow! I thought, the brushed bracelet and sporty chapter ring gave the model a unique look in GS's lineup that gravitates more toward "sport watch."

Being that I hardly wear dress pieces despite admiring them and owning several, I started to slowly consider purchasing this piece as it was being offered in near new condition at an outstanding price from a private seller. Ultimately, I jumped on it.

(Yes, that's lume on a GS that isn't the SBGA029/031)

Image

Can't wait to receive this one and get some pics going. I do plan to be selling off several pieces as I'm now fairly overextended, as you guys know I've made a few not insignificant purchases lately. But I couldn't pass this one up, I'm completely drawn to it.

On a side note, I really want to see Grand Seiko offer more sport watches. They really have their dress pieces perfected, but they have so much room for a mechanical 42mm dive watch and several other models in the vein of the SBGR077 (but even more committed to the idea of being a sport watch).

Excellent choice, feeling much jealously here. :D

Yeah, apparently it's a more limited model. I haven't seen it before either, but something about the styling stands out to me. I feel like I'll wear this one more than a Snowflake or a HiBeat which I feel like are too blingy for everyday wear (subjective, of course. I'm sure others would say they're fine for that).

Pretty different for a GS...I like that sportier look..

The red script makes it look quite lively, yet it's still a simple and clean design. A very cool and versatile watch- great choice.

Such a nice watch. Better than pieces costing twice as much.

Cheers

Nice pick up Sao. This watch looks great, the bracelet looks really chunky, something I'd like to see on other GS. Also, it's anti-magnetic. Wear it well.

Wow. What's the width on that model? That's how a man's wristwatch wears, right there.

Very cool. They don't quite have the detailed finishing of the other GS models but other than that they are choice.

very handsome and clean looking too. The chapter ring does add a nice sporty touch kind of like the alpinist. Enjoy

One of the few things better than a GS is snagging one at a good price. Nice.

I'm with spanky...actually a little jealous. I love a GS with a toolish edge...like the SBGA029 this watch absolutely lights me up.

Brilliant 8-)

Thank you guys so much!

This happened way quicker than I was anticipating, but you know something? Life is too short. Live, be happy, go after the things you want. And sometimes the most satisfaction I've had in this hobby has come when I go off in a different direction than I originally intended and take a leap of faith.

These are pics from the actual eBay listing:
