$2400 on a pre-order and they can't even throw in sapphire

Postby WatchDorks.Net » October 10th 2013, 7:19pm

Wasn't sure if this thread should go in Russian watches, Chinese watches, TV watches...

Russia2All, Craig Hester's website, is touting a $2,400 preorder for a Sturmanskie watch... ETA 2824... with a hardened mineral crystal? This offering reads WTF on so many different levels.

Ain't nothing from Russia that's worth $2400, except some of those hot mail-order Slavic queens, and they end up cutting your throat when you pass out on the fucking toilet.

I hate it when that happens.

Yup. Those Russki mail-order broads are like Craig's List for the Priapic Set. They both finish up with bloody murder.

You're thinking of Thailand.

SURGICAL SPECIALITY The kingdom has become the world center for penis reattachment due to a potent mix of a tradition of polygamy, phallic symbolism and knives

They have been boiled, fed to ducks, even attached to balloons and cast into the night sky -- when it comes to permanently depriving a cheating lover of a recently severed penis, the imagination of the wronged Thai woman knows few bounds.

Thailand has become the world center of penis reattachment surgery, but then it has been forced to be. While not unique to the kingdom, penis severing has been honed in the kingdom to its most devastating effect through a heady mixture of routine infidelity, assertive womanhood and a national cuisine that lends itself to a kitchen full of sharp knives.
When two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.

Ah, I see - must be really, really special. Guess I'd better send that check out pronto before the rest of the savvy timepiece collectors beat me to it!

What's with the white glove handling an ugly watch? Or is it an indication he did not want to get his hand dirty?

Are you kidding? $399 is still a sucker's price for what that is. Try $149.

For the life of med I cannot figure out how that watch would retail for anything over $200?

And I wouldn't pay that much.

I love how the "we showed this watch at Basel!" line is so often used my manufacturers to create false importance over any watch. Oh yeah, Hester? They showed Android, Sturhling Original, Police, and Hush Puppies, too. Basel would let paper watches display if they pay the nut to do it. And your point is?

A bit off-topic: It's amazing how TV watchmakers like Lalo claim "we don't give a damn what the rest of the watch world does," but then hype the fact they display at Basel. If they didn't care, they wouldn't go - but no watch retailer worth a vat of goat's piss wants to carry IWG, since, well, they're IWG, and all the BS hype in the world can't change the fact that crap is crap, laughed at and shunned by actual watchmakers and ADs worldwide.
