Invicta Unveils Solid Platinum and 18K Gold Watch

Postby koimaster » June 7th 2016, 3:46pm

Another lie which made the rounds at Timezone and WTF

Anyone ever seen this watch? My guess is it never made it out of the cheese whipped factory.

Publication: American Time
Date: Tuesday, January 21 2003

In a move to prove that Invicta is capable of producing high end watches, the company has introduced a 200 piece limited edition of a watch that president Eyal Lalo said is the first mass produced platinum and 18K gold watch. This new watch, called the Limited Edition Invicta Platinum Automatic, uses a modified Valjoux 2892-17 movement in a case of solid 18K rose gold with a platinum bezel.

We wanted to prove a point that Invicta doesn't just make high quality stainless steel watches, we have the capability and capacity to make these fine watches," Lalo said. "I wanted to come out with something special and introduce it at the end of the year to generate interest. We have the capability to do things that only the finest companies can do."

Invicta, which this year was chosen as the Official Timepiece of the 2002 Latin Grammy Awards, the 2002 MTV Latin America Awards and was in the 2003 Grammy Awards gift baskets, is moving its manufacturing from Chiasso, Switzerland to a new factory in L'Abbaye. "Our new factory will be ready in April 2003, and it is located about 100 steps from the Breguet factory," Lalo added. "Sales for Invicta are up 150%. The new skeleton watches are doing very well, the new Lupa watch is a huge seller. Once the platinum and gold limited editions are sold out, we'll come out with a regular model that isn't limited for wider sale."

It's amazing that Eyal spent that much money making a watch and it's still ugly as sin.

The only solid gold in that watch would be a photo of the solid gold dancers hidden inside.

It's amazing how that seedy company can release a "solid platinum and 18K gold watch" and the first thing I think of is "more junk."

I know, I know, it might not be - but this is yet another perfect IWG example of lipstick on a pig. Given the brand's sterling history of hype, I'd rather wear a paper watch from a dollar store.
