Hamilton Intra Matic

Hamilton Intra Matic

Postby koimaster » March 13th 2017, 9:45am

2012 has been a year of vintage re-editions and retro designs. After several years of massive sport watches dominating the market, we are seeing a gradual increase in demand for timeless designs that just so happen to equate to the clean and simple appearance of models from the 1950s and 60s. Hamilton has been at the fore of this trend for the past several years, introducing several models that plumb the rich heritage of the (formerly) American brand. Last year we had the Thin-o-matic, this year we have the Intra-Matic, hot on the heels of the retro-sport Pan Europ chronograph.

They are so sweet. Only problem, for me, is the lack of a seconds hand.

This is the one I sold off and still regret doing so.

?? And a bezel, GMT, perpetual calendar, chrono, and moon phase too.

Its designed as a minimalist dress watch. No seconds hand is totally appropriate for that.

No. I prefer a seconds hand.

I don't like the date window on this one either. It's tolerable on the silver dial version, but the black dial... If they don't intend to make a no-date version (and they probably don't), they could at least give it a black date wheel with silver or white printing.

I wouldn't mind the lack of a second hand- not in the slightest does the lack of it disturb me in my '75 Omega. Sometimes less is more, I guess. This design, however, would look good with it and without it alike, methinks.

I find it strange they didn't put a seconds hand on but did put a date window in. Weird.
