Yep, that's a beauty, Alain, and one I've been dropping great, long runnels of drool from my phiz over, as I look at the version of the watch with the robin's egg blue dial and mesh strap... >>>>SIGH<<<< ...anyhow, congrats on this very cool acquisition, mon ami... :-o

Got something in my haid that suspiciously feels like a screw that just got a couple of leftward turns made on its physical being, and now I seem to have yet one more loose cranial screw with which I must deal...on the plus side of this equation, I like breaking out some of the more unusual wrist tickers in the 'ol collezioni and strappin' it own -- and, for some reason, a mental picture of Billie Jean King just popped into the old shoulder-riding melon, but I'm sodded if I can figure out just why it did so -- oh, well...anyway, I'm in one of those moods to bling it out and let the Dorito's follow their own friggin' trajectories down to the floor! Because that's what life's all about, dammit to Betsy!

So here's some thoroughly over-the-top blingage from the good folks over at Merm & Sons, AKA Croton Watch Company, where Halvah and marzipan and potato kugel and perfectly made white fish and matzo balls frolic in the sun all day, before being eaten by a ruthless group of MoT's (Members of the Tribe [of Irsraelites]) who're always hungry, due in large part to our mothers' evil desire to bring us fully under their control through use of appetite control...

...but I digress.

Waxing nostalgic to a day when the best AD in the country was a carousel display on the counter of the Liggett/Rexall drugstore at the corner of Norwood and Broad.

Hand wind for me today. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I'm working at my friend's watch store every Wednesday for the next couple of months. Yesterday I changed 68 watch batteries (25 from a thrift store, the rest were walk-in customers). So today my wrist is a temporary no-battery zone. (I generally have nothing against quartz and I own plenty of them myself). You should see some of the crap that people bring in. A $20 watch that is 20 years old with rust pitted base metal - does it really warrant a new battery? The majority that I see are junk. But not all. Every day I work there I change batteries on a few quartz Cartier watches, some nicer Seikos, a few Gucci, maybe a Tag or an Omega. Then there are a couple of replicas every day. We get several Ecodrive models in every day. The capacitor in these dies generally at less than 10 years. People bought these thinking they won't need to pay for batteries every few years but I think normal batteries end up being cheaper in the long run. Some nicer watches come in to go to our watch maker. Last week I took in a beautiful 3 hand JLC to be serviced. Anyway, back to my hand wind watch of the day:
